SHIELD Testing Opt In
Please complete this form to opt in to twice weekly SHIELD testing by Friday, August 20.

This will allow us to screen for asymptomatic cases and really keep our students and staff safe. It also allows us to implement "test to stay" when close contact situations arise and keep kids in school for more time with less time out due to quarantine! I know this is a hot topic, but I'd sure appreciate getting as many students to opt in as possible. The information remains STRICTLY confidential and will help us as a District as we navigate the year. THANK YOU for considering this.

We anticipate launching SHIELD testing in late August/early September.

If you have any questions, please reach out.

Vaccination Status

If you are vaccinated, please:
1. Take a picture of your vaccination card, or
2. Provide a copy of your vaccination card to the Health Office, or
3. Carry your card with you.
This will expedite problem solving as/when situations arise!

If you are willing and haven't done so this summer, please complete this survey to share your current vaccination status. We are collecting this information to help us most efficiently respond to any COVID situations without having to bug you for information. Remember, as of right now, those who are vaccinated will not have to quarantine if there is a close contact situation. We also respect the varying perspectives on vaccinations, so there is no judgement whatsoever on your status.

Sealcoating
Lotus sealcoating and striping is rescheduled for the weekend of August 21. Please do not plan to come to Lotus that weekend so we can get the lots completed. THANKS!

Spirit Wear
The D114 spirit wear store is OPEN!!! Check out the flyer attached to this week's Monday Memo, or visit the store using this link. Please note that any logo can be put on any item. Can't wait to see everyone in their spirit wear!!!

Vaccination Pod Volunteers NEEDED!
Please let me know if you are willing to volunteer at Grant on August 18 (4PM-8PM) at our next FREE shared vaccination pod. I'd sure appreciate your help!

Furniture Updates
Due to materials shortages, production of our furniture is delayed. In order to disrupt you as little as possible and avoid piecemealing the installation, we are now planning for full replacement over winter break. I know this isn't ideal, but it's the best plan given the elements outside our control.

The Stanton STEM space/Library will be completed in September.

Teaching & Learning

Goals for This Week

✅Please Email your Coach any names/rosters you’d like to be created as a “Report Group”. (FLEX Groups, etc.).
Please add any other teachers or paras that may need access to your report groups.
Get acquainted with the iReady Dashboard!

Formative Assessment

This year we decided to have at least one dedicated focus for each Monday Memo. Throughout this year, we are going to focus on Common Formative Assessments!! Woo Hoo!! Progress monitoring with CFAs is like checking the oil in the car. It serves as our “Dipstick” during teaching by helping to make better informed instructional  decisions based on student progress.

Here is a video with an example of “Checking For Understanding”. Remember, Checking for Understanding can be used for anything - from simple understanding directions, to concepts...it’s quick, easy, and full of valuable feedback for YOU, the teacher!

Relationships Matter

Building Relationships

Building relationships with students is by far the most important thing a teacher can do. Without a solid foundation and relationships built on trust and respect, quality learning doesn’t happen. Check out this section weekly for community/team builders and tips on how to create a trauma informed, culturally responsive environment that is equitable for all.

*This week’s tip:

Community Builder

Take a look at this week’s Community Builder from Kagan’s Featured Structure “Find Someone Who!”

This link provides a step-by-step guide on how to use this in your classroom to build class community!

-Weekly Cheer/Silly Sport/Brain Break

It’s so important to build a positive classroom environment, and one way to do that is to celebrate with each other! . Here’s a great one to try out:

  • Cowboy Cheer - swing your hand over your head in a circular motion, like a lasso, and yell, “YEEEHAW!”
