Monday Morning Memo 11/15/21

A big shout out and thank you to Ellie Seyfert for always supporting me and my students whenever things come up. Thank you for always jumping in right away. I really appreciate it!

-From Caitlyn Fenton

I'd like to give Kudos to Amanda Lorenz. I don't usually see her in action, but I was using Erica's desk before training at Lotus, and got to hear and watch her work with groups of students. The way she speaks to the students with compassion and patience is awesome! The kids gravitate to her and she really pushes the students to do their best and explains things in a way they understand. I was really impressed with how much she accomplished in such a short amount of time.
~From Steph Kaye

Thank you, Paula, you skyward guru!! As I was putting in grades I noticed a few errors. I emailed her and within minutes they were resolved. So grateful for your diligence and expertise with this program. Much appreciated. :D

-From Kim VanHoorelbeke

Just wanted to share an extra strong KUDOS for Paula Kvacik! Third grade team needed to revamp/overhaul our ELA section of the report cards and Paula was so patient, gracious and accommodating. Her support in this matter and in everything she supports for us in, is always timely, attentive and upbeat!  Thank you Paula! It was a lot of back and forth communication, but you understood our needs and created a great outcome for us!  Thanks again!
-From Theresa Kovach

I would like to thank Kimberly Hanson for finding the time to both visit the "reading Room" to observe lessons, and for sharing her ideas on how to encourage a student's participation.
and
I'd like to express my gratitude to Kim Van Hoorelbeke for helping me add an audio track to a slide document that I use when reading as a guest reader. we were able to share the final piece for use at our upcoming Family Reading Night.

At Tuesday's Board meeting, we'll recognize 4 amazing retirees! Please join us virtually if you  are able.

E Learning Proposal
On Tuesday, I'll be bringing forward the proposal linked here for Board consideration. This would allow us, under the identified circumstances, to shift to Remote Learning on an emergency day (snow, ice, cold, etc) and then NOT have to make the day up at the end of the year.

Most other districts have a plan like this in place, so I'd like us to have it as well.

In terms of process, I will present this on Tuesday night and then put it on public display. This action--because it's really a change in how we do business--requires public notice and a public hearing in December before the final resolution for the change can be approved by the Board.

Thanks to the EAFL Executive Board for your review on this. As always, feedback and questions are more than welcome.

Furniture--Planning Ahead--
If you have high school-aged children (or know of any) who need volunteer hours, this is an OUTSTANDING way to earn hours!

WE STILL NEED MORE HELP (especially at Stanton!)

When: Monday, December 20
Time: 7:00AM-appx 3:00 PM
Our fabulous custodial crew will be onsite, but if you're willing to be part of this effort, we will pay $15/hour to those who are willing to help make the plan happen.

Let me know if you are interested!

-November iReady GOALS:

Everyone: Please be sure to check your classroom data for any students with “flags”.
What:
A Yellow Flag = a student has failed two lessons in a row
A Red Flag = a student has failed three lessons in a row and a Domain has been turned off
Why:
Students need some kind of intervention because they are not understanding the concepts
How to Help:
Sit and do the lesson with the student a 3rd time and reteach as you go, download resources in the toolbox, 1:1 conferring/reteach, open the quiz on your end and do it together, then turn the Domain back on

-November iReady DATA:

Keep it up! Look at that = 80% of lessons passed were passed with proficiency AND we averaged two lessons!

Turning Over a New Leaf:

Place a large sheet on the floor. Have everyone stand on the sheet,

then have them attempt to turn the sheet over without stepping off.
