Monday Morning Memo 4/12/21

Big thanks to Chris Brown who goes above and beyond in coaching and assisting her students with their art projects, including their flipgrid presentations!  Thank you for all you do!!
and
Ask and you shall receive...that's what happened with Russ when I asked about getting some wipes - he went above and beyond and brought me just what I needed to make the process of disinfecting materials between classes more efficient!   Thank you for always going the extra mile!
and
Timing is everything - and so is thoughtfulness!  Big thanks to Mike Szotek for helping to upcycle all the Dell boxes for our Art Museums!  He went above and beyond in emptying out some extras so we'd have them for this year's projects.  Thank you!!!
and
Thanks so much to Mrs. Schuck for her help in class and saving the day by bringing art materials to an upstairs classroom for an “online” student while I was teaching the rest of the class!
-From Gayle McManamon

Shout out to anyone who is working on a masters program or any other continuing education during this crazy year. You are all incredible!
and
Shout out to Erica for guiding me this year, giving me feedback, and allowing me to learn from you. I am inspired by everything that you do.
and
Shout out to Brittany for always jumping in to cover classes, help online students, and for willing to lend a hand in all areas of our 4th graders' learning. We appreciate you so much!
-From Kally Kibitlewski

A huge thank you to Lynn Smolen, Abbey Kadera, Pam Exon and Alana Carlson at an IEP meeting last week.  The entire team worked together to ensure that a parent could attend the meeting.  Lynn helped deal with some last-minute changes, Abbey quickly agreed to translate, Lynn, Pam and Abbey helped to get the parent online and everyone waited patiently for the meeting to start.  Thanks, everyone, for a successful team effort!
-From Mary Santi

Timing is everything - and so is thoughtfulness!  Big thanks to Mike Szotek for helping to upcycle all the Dell boxes for our Art Museums!  He went above and beyond in emptying out some extras so we'd have them for this year's projects.  Thank you!!!
-From Natalie Udstuen

I would like to send a shout out to all the bus and van drivers for helping out when we are short handed!  Thank you!!!
and
Thank you to Jill, Michele, Paula, and Sue for answering all my questions in order to transport accurately.  I couldn't do it without your help!
-From Andrea DeMatteo

Kudos to Stephanie Kaye and Grant Chapman for being selected to present at the annual PBIS conference!

COVID-19 SAFETY PROCEDURES

Decision Making Tree for Post-Vaccine Symptoms

Safety Protocols

*If you have any COVID-10 like symptoms at all or are not feeling well, please DO NOT

come onsite UNLESS you have just gotten the vaccine (please see guidance above).

If coming onsite:

*You must continue to self-certify (updated with the new symptom guide) using Skyward.

*All staff must enter through the main entrance at each site.

*You must sign in using the sign in sheet, mark that you self-certified, and take and record your temperature. IF YOU HAVE A FEVER ABOVE 100.4 YOU ARE ASKED TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY AND REACH OUT TO YOUR PRINCIPAL AND HEATHER.

*Once Sharon/Marc are onsite, they will review the sign in sheet and cross check with the

self-certification report. If anyone is NOT cleared or did NOT self-certify, they will meet with them to ensure they are safe to be onsite. If not, they'll refer that employee to Heather.

*If you arrive after Sharon/Marc are onsite, please will report to the Health Office to check in so we know you have self-certified. Your temperature will also be taken and recorded. Employees will know to do this because, when Sharon/Marc arrive, they will pick up the sign

in log and put out a sign that says "Please come to the Health Office to check in".

When you come onsite, you can work in your classroom/workspace.  Please feel free to use it as your own. I'd just ask that you work in that space as much as possible and not travel out much. You can,  of course you can use the bathroom, lounge, copiers, etc. as needed. Please do not congregate in the hallways or in other spaces. We simply want to keep you safe.

If you are alone in your workspace and the door is closed, you may remove your mask. If anyone enters that space, everyone in the space MUST wear a mask and stay 6 ft apart at all times.

When you DO leave your room, I'd ask that you strictly follow the 4 W's to help keep yourself and others around you safe:

1. Wash your hands.

2. Wear your mask.

3. Watch your space.

4. Wait your turn.

If you are concerned that you have COVID-19 or have been exposed to COVID-19 and

have been

or are scheduled to be onsite, please let your principal, and/or me know

immediately so we can partner with you for your safety and for the safety of others.

You can trust that we will keep all this information confidential, balancing staff privacy and

system safety needs.

All staff MUST wear masks AT ALL TIMES

when onsite and in public spaces.

If you are working in an office/classroom

with the door closed, you may remove your

mask. It must be worn when anyone enters

that space with you.

  • Thank you to everyone who came to the articulation meeting on Wednesday.  It was wonderful to see everyone and to be able to speak about some wonderful union topics.

**Please remember: voting for new officers will take place in each building today.  At Lotus, please see Tiffany Tardio-Weber in room 103, and at Stanton, please see Michelle Serini.  It is important to take a few minutes to vote today**

Good Luck to all of our teachers in having all of your kids onsite this week.  You will be wonderful.

Thank you to everyone for all of your hard work.

SELF CARE STATION

TREAT YO SELF TO SELF CARE

I'm going to use the book 180 Days of Self-Care for Busy Educators by my friend Tina

Boogren to share weekly nuggets of self-care ideas for all of us.

Week 31: Listening

With technology and social media, do you ever feel like we're losing the art of face to

face conversation where REAL listening happens? Consider the last time felt really and

truly heard. It's such a gift. Try to make a conscious effort to put the phone away, make eye

contact, and be the best listener you can be.

This week's invitation: Just listen.

1. Connect with a peer. Choose at least one colleague or friend to connect with. When you

connect, REALLY listen.

2. Connect with a student. Choose at least one student to connect with. Brainstorm some

open ended questions you can ask to show you're genuinely interested in him/her. When you

connect, (you guessed it) REALLY listen.
