Monday Morning Memo 9/29/25

Tip (and Personal Story) of the Week
Make purposeful decisions

I was enjoying a Sunday cup of coffee and noticed the message on the cup...

Cute, right? 😊
Like you, I'm heading into a week full of all the things. Specifically, I'm attending a conference for most of the week--and I HATE being away from home and from the District. Braden's still not healed up, is on new meds, and now has to go for a CT scan. Katie fell and twisted her ankle and she's now in a boot. And yep, there's more...

And, I can make a choice about it. I can be sad and stressed, or I can feel grateful that my family can absolutely be ok without me (even making a plan for all the things so nothing gets missed). I can be happy knowing that--with all of you--the District is in GREAT hands. I can be less anxious knowing that our phones keep us all connected, and that I'll have time during lunch and each evening to check in on things, Facetime my family, and catch up on emails.

Meaning...I can look at things one of two ways:
There's a problem for every solution...
OR
There's a solution for every problem.

What I choose is up to me.

So, I'm going to choose to focus on finding solutions for any problem that presents itself.

Can you try the same?

Let's say a problem gets solved. Are you going to look for the next problem or the issues with that solution, or will you choose to celebrate the solution and keep the next steps in perspective of being happy about progress?

Let's say a student is communicating wants/needs in a way that isn't expected. Will you choose to look for solutions, ask for help, and keep it in perspective? Or will you choose to escalate, too, and be part of the problem.

Not saying it's easy...but it's a choice. So, how will you MAKE PURPOSEFUL DECISIONS this week to say "Let them...Let Me" ❓❓❓❓❓

Thank you to Gina for helping fix our aging blending boards. Your help made things go much quicker.
-Maureen DeVoss--2nd Grade Teacher
