October Focus--Balance Routines
This Week's Wellness Invitation: Eliminate Inputs and Noise--THIS IS A HARD ONE!
Make time to eliminate all inputs and noise (including technology!!!) from your daily life and sit in solitude and silence for 15 minutes each day. Be intentional about making time for this by marking it on your calendar.

Kudos to Liz P. for all her help preparing for the upcoming sewing unit for the Life Hacks Exploratory over at Stanton. Cannot thank you enough for getting all the materials together-even raiding your grandma's closet. The students are super excited and I look forward to admiring their creations with you!

Shout out to Mr. Mark for being awesome. Your energy and positive attitude are contagious and it's always a joy having you join class!

Jackie M. thank you for supporting students in such a caring and kind way!

To Mr. Desmond and Mr. Fischer at Stanton, thank you for being so friendly, welcoming and helpful. It really does make a difference.
-Amber Raymond--Life Hacks Teacher at Stanton

Kudos to Jack Resnick, who's always hopping in and helping Norm bring in the parking lot signs at the end of the day.
--Michele Burgess--Administrative Assistant at Stanton

Katy Gardner and Cathy Jawnyj for making me take care of myself when I was sick this week because I have a hard time taking off from work.
-Dayja Wydzierzecki--6th Grade ELA Teacher

Thank Ellie for taking the time out of your day to help me with excel! You are pretty amazing!

Shout out to my most wonderful teaching assistants Courtney, Misty, and Colleen. You have no idea how big of a difference you make! You are truly special to me and I'm so thankful to work along side you each day!

Thank you to Ms. Gina for making our class copies :) It helps so much!
-Ashley Arff--Special Education Teacher at Lotus

Special thanks to my 2nd-grade team for offering so much support to Sarah while I was gone, being very helpful and patient with me as I get into the swing of things, and graciously offering to walk my class for me so I can have more time to pump. Couldn't do it without you!
-Emily Reczek--2nd Grade Teacher

To Eddie and Matt, thanks for helping out Friday afternoon.  You always step in to help without even asking.  We greatly appreciate all you do for us everyday!  .
-Kim VanHoorelbeke--Library Paraprofessional at Lotus

Thank you Mike for helping me with a computer situation and for being so flexible!

Thank you Colleen for fitting me into your schedule even when you were following someone else’s! And thank you for seamlessly walking into whatever we’re doing!

Thank you Don for fixing my door! I finally have a door that stays open on its own!

Thank you Allie Mixon for being so patient with one of my sick little ones.

Thank you to the Kinder team for always making me laugh and always being willing to go above and beyond for our students.

Thank you Adi, Cheryl and Mary for cutting out and laminating our letter cards!
-Sami Lear--Kindergarten Teacher

I would like to say thank you to Karen Lobodzinski, Niccole Culbertson, Chris Carvell, Jack Resnick, Connor Macko, Betty Cwiak, Karen Brnot, and Mark Perlman (I know I'm missing many) for all helping kids, staff and our school in some little way that added up for bigger results this week.  Thank you all for kind words, actions, and help you freely give each and every day, I appreciate all you do.
-Bryan Bailey--PLTW Teacher at Stanton

Thank You, Cheryl Schuck for your continued concern and support!!!  Appreciated more than words can express!!!!

Thank You, Sue Pinkawa for offering to make me a cup of tea, when she heard I wasn't feeling well.  Your consideration speaks volumes to your demeanor!!

Thank You, Chris Brown, for always checking in on me, and for your continued support!!!

Thank You, Allie Mixon and Natalie Udstuen, for your continued support of the students.
-Jackie Gorden-Platek--Special Education Teacher at Lotus

Kudos to Tracy: She is a wealth of knowledge assisting me when I occasionally take home the Midday PreK students like I did Thursday. She knows all the kids and more importantly all the people authorized to collect them from the bus. As we approach stops; she says that is Mom, sitter, or Cousin Goober who is approved. So gentle with the students and gets them laughing without losing their respect.
-Erik Linquist--Bus Driver

Thank you to Fiona, Sharon and Matt for assisting with a slippery situation. I appreciate your hearts and your concern to make sure our little ones are always safe in every environment.

Thank you to Fiona, Kim R, Monica, Mandi, Lumi and Mary in the ECSE classroom for assisting with the fire drill on Friday. You all jumped in where needed and supported our ECSE students in whatever capacity they needed. You are incredibly valuable, and I am so appreciative of you all!

Thank you to my fabulous class aides, Mary, Lumi, Mandi and Monica. You have been pulled in numerous directions all week long. I am so thankful for your input and feedback as we continue to adapt and grow.  I love coming to work every day because your love for learning how to educate our little ones is awe inspiring. Our students are thriving because of you!

Thank you to Adisyn for subbing in my room when I had to step out. My students were in safe hands with you, and I know that they love to see you visit. Thank you for supporting staff and students as they ended the school day, we all appreciate you so much!

Thank you Sarah for coming in to learn about the ECSE classroom. I know our students will love to visit with you in the future, and they were excited to see a new face. Your professionalism, kindness and positive attitude is just what Lotus needs. Thank you for being you!

Thank you to Pam, Hailey and Kristine for borrowing the ECSE class your wagon for the fire drill. We greatly appreciate your flexibility so that we could have our learners participate in a safe, comfortable setting. You all have HUGE HEARTS, and I am so thankful for your generosity.
-Erin Donovan--ECSE Teacher at Lotus

Thank you to everyone who participated in McTeacher Night! I know everyone gives in their own ways all year long,  so thanks to everyone who made time for this event!

Thanks to Jillian Rejczyk and students for getting the Culver's Store up and running for Stanton Staff. The kids learn life skills...and the adults can get a Culver's custard! That's a WIN-WIN for sure!

2024-25 Early Release Plans--DRAFT--work in progress

A few weeks ago during power goal reading, I had a lot of students a shouting questions across the class. We had just changed books and a lot of them were unsure of the pattern because we hadn’t learned any words yet.

After the 6th time of being interrupted, I stopped the class and modeled asking a friend your question first while they wait for me to be done helping another student.

We go back to work and one of my boys IMMEDIATELY shouts my name across the classroom. I remind him to ask his question to the person next to him. Two seconds later said student is running out the door! I stop him and ask him where he’s going and he says “I asked my question to the girl next to me and she said I can get a drink!”

I look over at that girl and her serious voice she says “Yes, but only a drink.”

He’s very literal and did not understand why I wouldn’t leave the classroom so I just let him get a drink from the water fountain.

(Also, we’d had the water signal in place for WEEKS at this point. 😂)
