iReady Update
The i-Ready usage minutes required for K-1 has been adjusted to fit the needs of our youngest learners.
After months of trial and error, lengthy discussions, solid efforts to build stamina, and research about
what's developmentally appropriate, we determined that 30 minutes per week is a realistic goal for our
littles.

The teachers have found that pushing students this age to acquire 45 minutes of online learning has
resulted in excess burnout. Research shows that children ages 5-6 will focus on a single interesting
activity for 10 or 15 minutes and on an assigned task for 4-6 minutes if it’s easy and interesting K-1
students spend a good chunk of time just getting to the lab and logging in so by the time they listen to
their lessons and start their practice they have used up a significant amount of time. We want to make
sure that we are not losing valuable time to teach the concrete learning K-1 students need in order to
build foundational number sense.

Grades 2-8 are still expected to reach 45 minutes on iReady each week---and, looking at our growth
data---this is part of the students’ success! Combined with everyone’s outstanding classroom
instruction, the majority of our students have ALREADY met their growth target for the YEAR!!!
Soooooo awesome!!! THANK YOU for all you are doing to make Math such a success!
