To...Sarah Groebe, the new ELL teacher for our students at Stanton. She is a graduate of Illinois State University and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Bilingual/Bicultural Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish. She has a plethora of experience and has traveled abroad for a lot of her educational experiences. She is also fluent in Spanish!

Kudos to our Kindergarten paraprofessionals-Rachel Lundberg, Molli Herchenbach and Peggy Styx for going above and beyond. Our Kinder teachers were at a conference on Thurs and Fri and our parapro's stepped in to make sure that schedules were running efficiently and ensure learning for all.

Kudos to our secretaries Paula, Sue and Colleen-we have a variety of after school clubs at the same time for sometimes up to 80 students staying after school. They consistently go above and beyond to communicate and ensure that every student is where they are supposed to be.

Kudos to Andrea De Matteo for quickly getting a new student put into our transportation system so he could start school asap.

Kudos to Bridget Wojciechowski, 4th grade maternity leave sub, for be willing to try new strategies to help her students with the transition process. She also hosted a Potluck for her students to encourage a positive community classroom environment.

I would also like to recognize Sarah Ferens for being flexible with her presentation and for moving it to the following day. Sarah also shared some great classroom management tips along with some easy interventions.

News from the Business Office
License Renewals
This year, more than 200,000 educators will have licenses up for renewal. To put this number in perspective, approximately 60,000 educator licenses are normally up for renewal in a given year. The 2018 renewal year is much larger than usual because it is the first year that educators who were issued a substitute teaching license (SUB) or educator license with stipulations endorsed for paraprofessional (ELS-PARA) in the 2013 certificate-to-licensure exchange will be able to renew these licenses.
As we approach this licensure renewal season, we are focused on educators having the best experience possible with the Educator Licensure Information System. To prevent the system from overloading due to increased user traffic, ISBE will stagger renewal periods for educators according to license type.
· Educators who hold a PEL and ELS-CTE license, with an expiration of 6/30/2018, may renew beginning April 1, 2018.
· Educators who hold an ELS-PEDU license, with an expiration of 6/30/2018, may renew beginning April 15, 2018.
· Educators who hold a SUB license, with an expiration of 6/30/2018, may renew beginning May 1, 2018.
The “renewal” hot link in educators’ action centers will not be activated until the dates identified above.
Keep in mind that professional development for this renewal cycle must be completed by June 30, 2018 and all licenses eligible for renewal must be renewed by August 31, 2018.

Thanks to our amazing tech team (aka Mike and David), Google Chat/Hangouts is now open for staff use. Please note that students cannot access this feature. I LOVE Google Chat--it's a huge timesaver.
