WELLNESS SCREENINGS
HURRY! We need 12 more staff to sign up at Lotus and 17 more at Stanton, or
our on site Wellness Screenings will have to be cancelled. Please sign up
ASAP. You can contact Jessica Lanners if you have questions or need
assistance.

COMPANY NURSE
It is 100% non-negotiable that you call Company Nurse with any injury that
happens while at work. This is for YOUR safety to insure that you get immediate
care through the District's plan. Please do not be offended if office staff insists
that you call. This MUST happen...for your benefit, as well as for that of the
District.

DONATIONS
Please know that, whenever we are informed of a death, illness, or
hospitalization of immediate family of any D114 staff member, we send a
donation or care package to show our support. This is done on behalf of the
staff, administration, and Board of Education. If you have questions, please
let me know. Also, when you know of a situation that we can support,
please contact me so we can follow
up. This is one little way we can show care for our D114 family.

Have student loan debt? The IEA can help you navigate the student loan forgiveness program at no cost to you. There are also two very helpful videos you can watch to learn about the program and how it works. We have had several members reach out the the IEA for help and had their payments reduced and/or debt eliminated so we strongly recommend that you look into this program!

The nomination form for the IEA Regional Assembly was sent out on Wednesday. Please only nominate another member who you know is interested in attending as a delegate. This year the assembly will be March 5-7 in Rosemont, IL. To access a nomination form, click HERE

New members can use their membership number at https://ieanea.org/ to register and create a log-in and password to start accessing their IEA member benefits.

Digging in a bit on Pete Hall's 10 keys to a healthy brain...here's the scoop on #3...

3.       Water. Fill ‘er up! And drink up! Water, that is. Our brains are roughly three-quarters water, and intaking sufficient water hydrates, feeds, cleans, and helps our brains to be more efficient, increasing mental alertness, processing speed, clarity, and creativity. If you’re thirsty, your lips are starting to chap, or your urine is dark yellow, you need to drink more water. And caffeinated beverages actually dehydrate us, so for each cup of coffee, drink a cup of water. (UC Davis)

Digging in a bit on Pete Hall's 10 keys to a healthy brain...here's the scoop on #2...

2.       Brain food. Not all foods are created equally, and some enhance brain function. The Cleveland Clinic lists foods that decrease likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s, increase our ability to focus, improve memory, and maintain mental acuity. Some examples: coffee, blueberries, oily fish, walnuts, chia seeds, quinoa, veggies, spinach, brown rice, tomatoes… Interestingly, easily accessible, cheap foods with high fructose corn syrup and trans fat don’t make the list – because they’re extremely unhealthy. Go ahead, read the ingredients – they matter for your gray matter! (Cleveland Clinic)
